The Great Outrigger Installation

As the season draws to an end I think of how it began at the fall event in Roslyn Wa, with my outriggers exploding while hitching up the dogs to the cart, moments before the race, leaving me with loose dogs and broken pickets. Fortunately friend Michael patched things up for me, but I was extremely grateful when Doug Solberg (of the Solberg Retirement Spa for Gwen's Sleddogs) offered to make me a new set.

A couple of weekends ago the guys got
together and installed the new set of outriggers.

First the old set had to come off.

Then the new set was measured and trimmed.

Lots of cutting and welding later (because I was very fussy about tucking them up under the truck) they were finally installed

They even come with a can of paint for touch up jobs.

The outriggers look great and are very strong and sturdy.
There will be no mishaps with outriggers this weekend!
A huge THANK YOU to Doug Solberg for all of the hours spent designing and building these outriggers. And another huge THANK YOU to Michael Johnston for all of the help with patches and the new installation.
