Internet is either non-existent or very slow so this is very short. We are holed up in Sirineki (I’m guessing the English spelling) right now due to the howling wind-storm. The winds are around 70+ kmph or approximately 45mph and the race officials decided to halt the race here for a day till the winds subside again. Sirineki is right on the Bering Sea, and the sea is completely open here. It is not so cold, maybe -6C, but that wind drops the temperatures down another 12-15 degrees Celsius. The dogs and mushers leave me humbled. The people are delightfully warm and welcoming, just yesterday when we arrived and were waiting for the teams to come in, a contingency of bright traditionally dressed ladies came down to greet us with tea and buns and candies. The race officials travel by a converted military machine, I will post the name another day, as we all struggle a bit to communicate, but this photo will show you!
