A Great and White Silent Land

Arriving back in the late hours of the evening, to the sounds of a city that had erupted in chaotic joy as our Canucks were moving on to the next round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, I stepped off the bus to the smell of blossoms and lush vegetation... springtime in a rain forest, and quite the contrast to a starkly beautiful land of ice and snow where spring appears to still lay in slumber. Its not quite been a week now, crazy and hectic, plunging immediately into work, and a hard and fast 2 day run into central Oregon to get my dogs back home.

There is much more to tell, but for now Gwen needs to take some time to let it all sink in, and find some way to articulate a land of beauty, of simplicity and complexity, that shapes the people that live with the land to reflect itself. A culture where dogs are a deeply ingrained way of life

.....And they three passed over the white sands, between the rocks, silent as the shadows.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge: The Wanderings of Cain 1798
